I can’t even say how much I love this picture. I’m going to leave it up as the top image for a while. I just love it.
In the meantime, I’m going to start scheduling posts that change up this space. I think things have gotten pretty dry around here. By now you guys have a pretty good idea of what I like to reblog: Space! Books! Cityscapes! Ballerinas in cityscapes! If this is getting boring for me, than I know it has to be getting boring for you.
You may have noticed me writing more lately with my pictures. I’m slowly getting more comfortable at blogging like this, at least a little. I’m going to start experimenting with what I put up here as this school year comes to a close. Maybe I’ll just work harder to find more interesting pictures, or maybe I’ll really start to make this a space for publishing more writing and other content of my own. Time will tell.

So cool. I don’t know where this is, but I’d like to. Can’t tell if they’re people under glass or sculptures actually underwater. Interesting.
I’m trying to shake things up with this space, try new things. More on that tomorrow morning.

For the next two days I’m going to share photos from one of my new favorite blogs, Asthetisch (which was recomended by my favorite blog, A City Called Earth).
We’ll start with this picture, which fits quite well with the established aesthetics of this space (sides of a tall building, modern architecture, arty composition..), look for something a little different this afternoon.

‘Analog TV Quirk Makes Art Through Tedium’

Gone in the blink of an eye but captured by the release of a shutter, Stephan Tillmans‘ photographs of cathode-ray-tube televisions powering down are unexpected and elegant: analog moments preserved by digital trial and error.
Through tedious, button-pushing coordination on both TV and camera, Tillmans has perfected a surprisingly difficult task. It turns out photographing CRT-image decay and making it look like art is as hard as it is strange.
“Capturing the same picture twice is almost impossible. Timing really would have to be perfect,” says the Berlin photographer. “Not only does the moment the TV is switched off and the moment I take the picture matter, but also the duration of the TV being turned on. I take the pictures manually, and Iʼve never shot two images alike.”

Saw this in Wired a couple weeks ago. Such a cool, creative, and difficult process. and the result is so modern and original but still makes us nostalgic. So great.

Whoa, more urban planning in China. Interesting, kind of soul crushing though too.
